Great Netbook!
Review Date: June 11, 2009
Reviewer: A. Chung “DREW” (CA, USA)
Spent quite a bit of time researching this Labtop… I was looking netbook which had a good size keyboard good battery life. To my surprise this is the best one on the market. As other reviews state only price is the downfall of this great product you know shopping at Amazon you get it below retail with no tax… so this is great product.

Likes: Keyboard,Screen res, Portablity, 6 cell battery got 6 hrs and going, Removable battery

Dislikes: speakers 2.1?? come on its a netbook no matter what it wont sound good, Glossy screen, rocker mouse pad.

Try this netbook out its great better thank the ones i saw.. I compared NC10 N110 and Asus 1008HA 1004HA. Those are the only two brands you should be looking into netbooks with.

Good luck finding your netbook.

PROS:
-KEYBOARD! (Can I put this as a pro twice?)
-Battery Life! (Again, twice?)
-Build Quality
-Comfortable quiet rocker-button
-Smooth, easy-to-use touch pad
-Screen: Crisp, not too reflective
-When you get a Samsung, you know it’s going to be made out of Samsung products, not some third-party producer

CONS:
-None yet (As of two months) [Unless you count the reflective screen, which ultimately isn't as bad as many and the gloss produces crisper, nicer looking colors]

I don’t typically write reviews, but I felt I needed to for this beauty.

Ok, I’ll start this by saying I spent four months researching netbooks. I’m a high school student, so I’ve only got so much income to spend on this puppy. I was looking in the <$400 range and I wanted the most bang for my buck (as everyone should).

What I wanted the most were: battery life sufficient enough for me to be able to bring it to school without bringing the charger and a keyboard that I didn’t have to adjust to (I’m a touch typist). I’m not going to say something like “I mainly want a big screen and high resolution” because if that’s what you want, then you’re looking for a notebook, not a netbook. You’ve gotta sacrifice the screen size and resolution for the low weight, portability, and battery life–though you don’t have to sacrifice the comfortable keyboard.

In the end I was torn between three: Eee 1000HE, the MSI U123, and this (N120). They all had their own perks, but the Eee had a small, chiclet-type keyboard (Which I’ve never liked–raised-edged keys for me!) that was uncomfortable to type on, and the U123 had another small keyboard. Now, let me tell you, the keyboard on this N120 is AMAZING! I like it as much if not more than my $70 Logitech keyboard I use with my desktop! The keyboard has zero flex, the keys are very responsive and cool to the touch, and the size is incredible. I didn’t even have to adjust to it!

Then the battery life. Everyone who’s looking for a netbook should know by now that the HE has the best battery life, except for maybe the U100 PLUS which I wasn’t going to wait for. Despite this, you shouldn’t believe that it’s the ONLY netbook with great battery life. This SAMSUNG netbook has incredible battery life! I can’t stop bragging about it to my friends. On my first full charge I got around nine and a a half hours of battery life! This was with simple web browsing and writing papers and all settings on absolute minimum, including turning off buetooth. I’m still amazed by it. I went from a 14.1 Acer with–if I was lucky–an hour and a half f battery life, to something with EIGHT more hours of battery life! Incredible!

That battery life and the keyboard would’ve been enough for me, but everything else about it is stupendous as well: the matte finish is very professional; the LED screen (made by Samsung) is crisp and bright, albeit a little on the blue-side, which is fine; the creak-less opening of the lid; the large viewing angle; the feel of the plastics; and the zippiness of it.

Just to comment on the “zippiness” of this N120: it loads up quicker than my old Acer, quicker than my desktop, and overall just feels very quick. I don’t have any statistics for you, but the feel of the speed with which this netboook follows-through is worth note. If you find it’s lagging on actions, you may want to check the battery manager software provided by Samsung and, if you’re doing something CPU-heavy, you may want to stop underclocking the ATOM (It does this to save battery life).

To wrap things up… if you get this, you will LOVE it. You will not be disappointed. I managed to snatch it here for $399 free shipping, so I was more than happy. If you can find it for that price, do yourself a favor and jump on it.

And as a P.S. Don’t waste your money on a 2GB stick of RAM. It’s not necessary. For what you need to do on a Netbook, and for every purpose a Netbook has, 1 gig is plenty. I have yet to use more than 756 megs of it, and that’s when I was realllly multitasking, and the machine handled it brilliantly.

Samsung has a Winner with the N120
Review Date: August 20, 2009
Reviewer: Stephen Siegmann “DreamWeaver” (Alpharetta, GA)
I have had the Samsung N120 for almost a week. I had been looking at netbooks since the first of the year since they are an engineering marvel paralleling the new market that Toshiba created years ago with laptops. When the N10 came out I took notice but I felt that I would wait until more of the 280 processors showed up.

To me first priority is the keyboard. I’m 6′6″ with large hands and a combo of proper skills mixed in with hunt and peck. Who wants to keep looking at the keys on the compromised keyboards? So the N10 got to 92% full size and this one is 97%. A winner.

Second priority is the battery life. This is mostly a toy for me but I expect that with the versatility of 6-7 hrs of cordless existence, it will be around a good while and may evolve to serve other purposes. With 6 cell batteries the netbook becomes a unique tool.

Third prioity is fit and finish, i.e. attention to detail. As I read more than I care to admit, it came down to Asus, Toshiba, and Samsung. Acer seemed in trouble here with too much flex, HP doesn’t care where the mouse buttons are supposed to be and do they care about the home user, and Dell is selling theirs like a car with the attendant sticker shock.

I came a mouse click away from getting the $349 Toshiba. It met all my standards. I had a nagging feeling that something was amiss so I stopped. I asked myself how am I REALLY going to use this new toy? Research, e-mail, Facebook, Shutterfly, and YouTube. Toshiba comments were that it had one tinny mono speaker on the bottom. I realized that speakers are overlooked maybe because netbooks are a new market. This was the deal maker/braker. Best Buy sealed the deal when I got a chance to hear the Toshiba or should I say barely hear them.

That said, what you get with the Samsung speakers is decent sound out of a 2.8 lbs. marvel. If you find yourself listening to great music, you can still shop some light-weight Bluetooth head phones.

Samsung can be proud of what they have achieved.

N120 vs NC10 comparison ,N120 definitely better !

I just got my n120 in today ,so i went straight to my buddy’s house who has the white nc10 in his room so i can make a comparison only because before i made my purchase i was debating between these 2 but finally chose the newer model which is the n120 .here is my comparison….

  • the n120 is 4cm wider which is about half an inch almost to accomodate the larger keyboard and side speaker design.
  • the n120 has a shorter screen in height ,about 1 centimeter compare to the nc10 ,you can not tell the difference between these 2 screen in size by looking at it only if you measure, looks identical to me.samsung reduce the 1cm on the n120 to conserve battery life.
  • the n120 is slightly thinner then the nc10 almost 1cm lower than the nc10
  • the n120 has a sleeker design due to the rounder edges and more curved casing compare to the boxed shaped nc10
  • n120 has a sharper and more crisp lcd screen but it is more glossy than the nc10 screen.there is a reason why there is a glossy lcd screen on the newer model cause it’s better
  • both has the same brightness when maxed out and charger plugged in
  • n120 has the led backlit technology for the lcd screen to conserve energy
  • n120 has a clearer web camera ,maybe it’s the software or better updated hardware for the web cam that samsung provided.
  • when maxing out the sound and volume system on both n120 and nc10 ,the n120 is definitely louder, more crisp, and more thump speaker/subwoofer system than the nc10 ,great for listening to hip hop music ,watch a action pack movie ,or play games in a noisy surrounding.
  • n120 does not have the chrome line feature in the front which the nc10 has
  • n120 is 1 cm longer in length due to the sleek edges i think.
  • n120 has a better feel and better build quality when holding the netbook with one hand as the nc10 boxy casing do tend to squeak.
  • n120 has a nicer oval power button as the nc10 has a circle power button
  • n120 has a larger keyboard
  • n120 has a mesh speaker design on the side next to the screen

sorry i haven’t done any battery testing ,overall i think the n120 is better than the nc10 (usually the updated model is better) . a way more sleeker design. the bigger keyboard and 2.1 channel srs trusurrond speaker system is a plus compare to the nc10.

Excellent for the money and what I use it for.

This is an excellent computer. The last computer I had cost me about $2,600.00 and it lasted me about 5 years, which I guess is good in computer years. I spent under $500.00 on this netbook and I’ve been able to accomplish all the same tasks that I did on the previous one except for maybe video editing, these netbooks don’t really come with anything special when it comes to video cards. I love the portability and the battery life of this netbook.

Great Netbook!
Review Date: April 29, 2009
Reviewer: just my opinion
I bought this last week after reading a LOT of reviews on various netbooks. I wanted something lightweight, durable and reliable for traveling especially via plane. I have a fairly portable laptop already but every extra ounce seems to really seem heavy walking through airports, NYC, etc. I also like the idea of being able to carry a lightweight machine to public places where i can get a little work done without needing to carry a laptop, power cord, etc.

I was a little worried that a netbook would not be ‘enough’ but so far it has been outstanding!
This particular netbook is far nicer looking and seemingly more durable than ANYTHING i’ve seen at local stores. Although the screen is advertised as ‘glossy’ it is not overly so and looks nothing like the HP and Asus ‘glossy’ screens. The keyboard is fantastic and the built in track pad works really well. Battery life has been very good – I got close to 8 hours the first time I charged it. This netbook is comfortable to type on and has rounded edges. The speakers are decent and certainly better sounding than many other netbooks on the market.

I recently loaded Office 2007 – it runs just fine. I also UN-Loaded the pre-installed McAfee software, replaced with AVG and that was a good decision – things are much faster without McAfee. I plan to upgrade to 2 gb of RAM but right now everything runs just fine with the installed 1 gb.

Although a netbook will probably not ever replace my laptop, it is perfect for the times i want/need to have computer access for internet, email and word processing/office type work. The convenience of being able to take this very portable, lightweight machine with me is a real bonus!

Although this netbook is a bit more expensive than some others on the market, I think it’s worth the extra money.

I’ve been using Mac for as long as I’ve had a computer and am now on my seventh. I needed a machine better suited for travel; something I could tuck in a medium size tote bag. The only Mac candidate, the MacBook Air, while lightweight, is not compact. What’s more, in today’s economy, I couldn’t possibly justify a secondary machine that starts at $1500.

Having reluctantly decided I had to go Windows, I went with the Samsung Netbook N120 because of its reviews. Okay, so as a Windows product it doesn’t have all the great functionality and intuitiveness of a Mac, but if you are going to make the move, this machine is worth it. You’ve already read many times over what others have said about the screen size, keyboard size, battery life, design, etc. Take it from a devoted Mac user, this is a great machine.

Product Description

From lid to handle to base, each piece of Infinite Circulon cookware is geared for optimal performance in the kitchen–so home chefs can focus on the art of cooking, not the science. The hard-anodized aluminum bodies and stainless-steel bases with encapsulated aluminum cores offer the dual advantages of rapid, even heating and superior durability. Circulon’s TOTAL nonstick system (rated the longest wearing by independent lab tests) features an all-over nonstick coating and a Hi-Low ring design that heats food over the entire cooking surface, but reduces abrasion by allowing only a portion of food and utensils to touch. Also, unlike most nonstick pans, Infinite goes right into the dishwasher so cleanup is a breeze. This 10-piece set includes 1-1/2- and 2-quart covered saucepans, an 8-quart covered stockpot, a 3-quart covered sauté pan, and 8- and 10-inch open skillets. Cast stainless-steel handles stay comfortably cool on the stovetop and are riveted for extra strength, and the snug-fitting stainless-steel lids are low-profile and substantial. The set’s deep charcoal grey and bright mirror-polish combination looks professional yet stylish enough to bring to the table for serving. All pieces are oven-safe to 500 degrees F and can be used with any stove type. Hard-anodized aluminum also doesn’t chip, stain, or scratch so the aptly named Infinite will keep its good looks for many years to come. The set is backed with a limited lifetime warranty. –Kara Karll

great product, dissapointed at Amazon

The pans are great. Ordered this from Amazon, two days later the price dropped $10.00. Wrote an email to Amazon to credit me the $10.00, because of price protection. Every store does and they did it for me before. The answer was they don’t do that. Sent another email saying that I am a great customer look at my history, you did it before, why won’t you do it now. What did they want me to do? I could have ordered it at the lower price and returned the set I had. They never answered my second email. So I wrote another email and guess what, they have not answered that email either. Don’t get me wrong I love Amazon, but they are losing big money for ten bucks. In the past couple of years I have spent at least a couple of thousand a year. Now instead of just going to amazon and assuming they have the best price, I shop around and don’t do any major purchasing through them. And I will not until I receive a satisfactory answer to my emails.
Circulon Infinite

When our old Circulon cookware was mistakenly put in the dishwasher by the housesitter, a replacement needed to be found. I did a thorough search of available brands, with cost not being the most important criteria, and the Circulon Infinite had all the qualities that we were looking for. We have NOT put it in the dishwasher, even though we can. At least we don’t have to warn future housesitters that they shouldn’t. We loved our old Circulon but this is even better. I love the heavy base, the handles that don’t get too hot to touch, the lid that fits so snugly. The handle is comfortable, cleanup is simple. We had considered All Clad/stainless steel, being told that it was the best, but tried one piece and when the egg absolutely stuck to the pan decided that we just didn’t want the hassle. I have nothing negative to say about this product and would recommend it highly.
Great cookware, love it!

I purchased this set of cookware last month. I expected a good set, but it was even better than I thought it would be. It is extremely durable and heavy, due to the stainless steel plate underneath each piece. That plate also contributes to nice even heating and a very flat surface for glasstop stoves. Cleanup is a breeze both by hand and in the dishwasher. The only negative I can think of is that the lids are not see through (solid stainless and very pretty), but the ones from my old set fit if that’s something I really needed. Overall, I would buy again in a heartbeat.

We decided on the Cirulon Infinite cookware after looking at a lot of other brands. The quality and versatility makes this affordable (a relative term, I know) line of cookware a great value. After 6 months of heavy use, we are more than pleased with the durability and performance.

  • Very Thick Bottoms – Allows for even heating of cooking surface
  • Great Nonstick Surface – Really nonstick, no issues at all – DO NOT use nonstick sprays or “heavy oils” as these will ruin the nonstick properties (read the instructions)!
  • Requires Less Oils – We were able to cut way back on the amount of cooking oils we use
  • Durable
  • Oven Safe
  • Dishwasher Safe
  • Important Follow the manufactures instructions and you will have great results.

Highly Recommended!

This set is amazing!!! The performance is excellent; quick and easy clean-up… I now need to get the other pieces to complete my “ultimate” set. Highly recommended (I have a ceramic-top stove; it’s definitely perfect for that)!

Product Description

This functional 14-piece set offers a complete array of cookware for the kitchen at a reasonable price. The set includes three covered saucepans in 2-, 3-, and 4-quart sizes; 5-1/2- and 8-quart covered stockpots; 8- and 10-inch shallow French skillets; and a 12-inch, 5-quart covered sauté pan. The exteriors of the pans in this set are durable hard-anodized aluminum while a hard-anodized aluminum core distributes heat evenly through the pans without hot spots. Three coats of DuPont nonstick coating line the pan’s interiors. Circulon’s patented Hi-Low grooves protect the nonstick coating from wear by exposing only a small portion of the nonstick surface to cooking. The result is longer lasting performance and easy cleaning. The 18/10 stainless steel lids are slightly domed to capture moisture when steaming or braising foods. Handles are made of stay-cool heat-resistant plastic and are oven-safe to 350 degrees F. This cookware is covered by a lifetime limited warranty. –Cristina VaamondeWhat’s in the Box

Great cookware!

I do a lot of cooking….from Jambalya to fried eggs to soups and stews and I have to say that this is some of the finest cookware I have ever used. The pots and pans cook very nicely without anything sticking even on a high heat making a rue for Jambalya or brazing meat for a stew. Clean-up is a snap also. As with all non-stick coatings, you have to use the right utensils so as not to scratch them. I have used several other store bought kinds of pans….even Pampered Chef and these Circulon pots and pans are some of the best I have ever used.

I have tried quite a few different brands. None ever seem to be non stick as they claim. Someone told me to try Circulon.

I got my set at Macy’s and included was 2 extra bonus pots and it was wonderful. I always heat up my pots before using, and let me tell you…NOTHING sticks to these. I have burnt sugar, cheese and everything you can think of and nothing sticks. I love how even they cook my food. They are heavy duty to the touch and very easy to care for.

If I were anyone buying these, I would buy at a local store like Macy’s. They are always offering bonus items. Can’t beat it.

This is my 2nd set of circulon. I bought my first 12 piece set in 1994. This 14 peice set has a few larger saucepans and I was still able to keep several of the peices from the 1st set. I like the set with the metal lids and the only changes between the 2 sets are the size of the ridges. This one has slightly larger ridge patterns of high/low cooking surface. I really checked the new set out when it came as I purchased it at an awesome price and was concerned that it may be lower quality. I was very pleased to see that it was so similar to my other set! I am already using the new set and cleanup is easy. I felt like a kid with a new set of toys checking out my new cookware. Soooo get cookin with circulon!!! :)
great set and value look no further

I have owned this set for 15 years and just replaced it for the same set. It held up beautifully but I felt I wanted to have new ones since the price was so good. Many of them are still in excellent condition and I do say we used them for the whole 15 years exclusively. This is a great starter set and you will need no other. It provides every size you would possibly want. I did have the 1 qt instead of the 4 qt in mine but I could just purchase that separately and still get a bargain at amazon’s pricing. Circulon is an excellent cookware line.
